Sailfish Point has once again been recognized by Golfweek as one of the top residential golf courses in the country.
Our Jack Nicklaus Signature Course has been named to the prestigious magazine’s 2021 list of the “Best Residential Courses” in the U.S.
The annual selection of the country’s 200 top golf community-focused layouts is determined by Golfweek’s elite team of more than 850 course evaluators. Each year, the raters survey over 3,600 facilities, grading each in accordance with Golfweek’s 10 strict standards of evaluation. Sailfish Point ranks 100th on the influential list.
“Golfweek is one of the industry’s longest running and most respected publications, and we’re honored to receive this recognition,” says Victor Tortorici, PGA Director of Golf at Sailfish Point. “Our operations and agronomy teams manage and maintain this course to championship standards, and the Nicklaus team’s design has truly stood the test of time.”
Starting in the spring of 2021, the golf course will undergo the most comprehensive and impactful renovation in its storied 40-year history. Led by Nicklaus Design, the project will yield an eminently playable routing with strategic options for players of varying ages, abilities and ambitions.
New forward tees will be installed on all 18 holes, creating a 4,500-layout optimized for slower swing speeds. In all, there will be six sets of tees capable of producing 10 different playing combinations. The back tees will stretch to 7,111 yards, enabling Sailfish Point to continue hosting competitive member and PGA sectional events.
Steps away from the Sailfish Point Clubhouse and the first tee is a newly expanded and completely re-imagined practice facility and short-game area. Setting the standard for game improvement in South Florida, it features a 10,000-square-foot practice green, multiple target greens and expanded teeing areas on both the north and south ends of the range.
