40 Years of Jack Nicklaus Signature Golf

For the past 40 years, internationally acclaimed Jack Nicklaus has remained the only architect for Sailfish Point’s course. First built in 1981, this was the ninth Signature Course ever composed by Nicklaus and his team. The 2007 course renovation included a recontouring of all the areas around the greens as well as repaving the cart paths with aggregate cement. However, as the community celebrates its 40th birthday, this newest renovation has been the biggest since the course’s inception.

A Full Golf Course Renovation

During the recent $7 million renovations, not a single blade of grass was left untouched. Many holes underwent major changes that added additional playability and strategy. New sets of forward tees were installed on all 18 holes, creating an optimized layout of ten different playing combinations. With five new sets of forward tees ranging from 5,001 to 7,081 yards, the new layout ensures enjoyment for any skill level. Additionally, the Practice Areas were transformed to include two driving areas on the north and south ends of the course. Sailfish Point has also installed the innovative Trackman putting analysis system in the Practice Area, further assisting Members in their gameplay.

Golfing Events to Enjoy for Years to Come

With a “no tee time” policy, Members can drive their golf carts straight from their homes to enjoy all the newly refined course has to offer. Full-time teaching professionals are always on hand in the Practice Area to sharpen residents’ skills, with individual plans tailored to their gameplay. These golf professionals also host a wide variety of competitive and social activities for all skill levels, including mixed foursomes, pick-up games, scrambles, tournaments, and formal Men’s and Women’s League play. Popular tournaments include the Husband-and-Wife Championship, Ladies’ Duel, Sailfish Cup, Tortorici Cup, and more.

Sailfish Point Stays Innovative

The renovations made to the Nicklaus Signature Golf Course are not the only changes coming to Sailfish Point.
